50th Anniversary of Capital's Peaceful Liberation Marked 　　A grand assembly was held in Beijing on January 29 to mark the 50th anniversary of Beijing's peaceful liberation. 　　Beijing, the Chinese capital during six dynasties, features an abundant array of cultural relics and historic sites. 　　Peaceful liberation of the capital was achieved on January 31, 1949.
