Li Lanqing Visits Veteran Chinese Scientists

����Li Lanqing, vice premier of the State Council, on January 29 called on four veteran Chinese scientists to extend greeting for the coming Spring Festival that begins on February 16 this year.

����The four scientists, Wu Yingkai, Wang Daheng, Lin Lanying and Peng Huanwu, were academicians at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. They have all devoted themselves for decades to China's development in medical science, national defense and advanced techniques.

����Li, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed his admiration for these scientists for their work, and said he hopes they are able to contribute more to science and education in China.

����Li also listened to the four scientists' opinions on medical and scientific reform, and briefed them on the strategy of invigorating the country through science and education as well as the reform of the scientific and health sectors.
