Ugandan President Holds Talks With Chinese Official
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni held talks with visiting Vice-Chairman of China's NPC Standing Committee Xu Jialu in Kampala Tuesday.
Museveni praised China for selecting, no matter under what sort of pressure from outside, a way of development by its own and said that Uganda is doing the same.
During the one-hour talks, they introduced to each other the political systems in their respective countries.
Museveni was very interested in the formation and function of China's NPC and the specific roles in national affairs of the different parties in the Congress.
Xu also elaborated on China's policies on education, a topic of special interest to the Ugandan president.
The Chinese official highly praised the wide-ranging and smooth cooperation between the two countries in political, economic and cultural fields since they established diplomatic relations in 1962.
