Hu Jintao Meets with Ghanaian President
China is ready to join Ghana to push the existing traditional friendly relations of cooperation to a new high, the visiting Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao said here Wednesday.
Hu made this pledge during his meeting with Ghanaian President Jerry John Rawlings on Wednesday.
Hu Jintao said that China supports the struggle of African nations to safeguard national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. China also urges African nations to solve disputes peacefully through consultations among concerned parties.
China will also support these nations' efforts to maintain domestic stability and unity, invigorate their national economy and promote their social progress, Hu noted.
China has always valued its friendly cooperative ties with Africa and furthering this relationship is an important part of its independent foreign policy of peace, Hu stressed, adding this policy will by no means change following changes in the world situation nor in each other's own circumstances.
The Chinese vice-president said China will continue to provide aid to African nations without any political pre-conditions.
He urged the international community to listen to more voices from Africa and strengthen bilateral consultations and cooperation, adding they should also make concerted efforts to safeguard the just rights of the developing nations and help establish a fair and reasonable international political and economic order at an early date.
He also urged them to help Africa develop the economy, get rid of poverty at an early date, and shorten the development gap between Africa and the rest of the world.
Hu Jintao arrived in Ghana on Tuesday for a three-day visit. He will leave for Cote d'Ivoire on January 28 to continue his four-nation African tour.
