Preparatory Work for UPU Congress Progresses Smoothly ˇˇˇˇThe 22nd Universal Post Union (UPU) Congress will be held in Beijing from August 23-September 15 this year, announced Liu Pingyuan, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Chinese Organizing Committee for the said meeting. The opening ceremony will take place in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The congress will be attended by some 2,000 representatives from 189 UPU member states and more than 20 international organizations. At present, various items of preparatory work are progressing smoothly. ˇˇˇˇConvening of the meeting not only will promote the development of the world postal work in the next century, but will play a positive role in promoting friendly contacts among various countries.
