CPPCC Chairman Meets Hong Kong Delegation
����Li Ruihuan, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, met with a delegation from Hong Kong's Chinese General Chamber of Commerce January 26 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
����Li, also a standing committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee first congratulated Robin Y. H. Chan on his new position as head of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.
����He said that this Chamber has made great contributions to the economic development of the motherland and the maintenance of prosperity and stability in Hong Kong.
����He also thanked the members for their efforts during last summer's floods, and encouraged the new leadership of the group to continue its admirable traditions.
����Li exchanged views with the Chamber members on economic exchanges between Hong Kong and the inland areas.
����Founded in 1900, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce is one of the four largest such groups in Hong Kong.
����Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, was also present during the talks.
