Zhejiang Constructs a Mechanism of Aptitude Education

  The Education Committee of Zhejiang Province recently proposed to deepen aptitude education focusing on innovation cultivation.

  Zhejiang Province began aptitude education in 1997. There is no difference of key from ordinary types of schools at the primary or secondary level. Primary graduates are enrolled directly into secondary schools in the vicinity of their home. Children's grown-up is to be checked by apatitude assessment instead of following a 100-score system.

  According to Professor Li Zhiqiang, vice director of education committee, insofar as teaching is concerned innovation cultivation can be discussed in the following five aspects: 1. Basic study ability, developing study ability and creative study ability. Basic study ability refers to basic knowledge and basic skill. Developing ability means observation ability and self-taught ability. Creative ability is the sense and ability to find and create; 2. Unity of sci&tech aptitude with humanitarian aptitude; 3. Unity of brain factors with non-brain factors. 4. Unity of basic demand with personality; 4. Unity of self-reliance with responsibility.

  The education committee requests all teachers to construct new curricula of basic education, to change their teaching methodology and accept students' different personality.
