*The United States and Japan will continue their economic sanctions against India, carried out after the latter launched nuclear tests last May.

A US State Department official made the remarks while commenting on the Indian press report that the United States will lift the economic sanctions against India.

Only when India accepts the concern of the international community on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and implements all the related UN resolutions, may these sanctions be lifted, the official said.

*The German government has refused to sell two SSK submarines to India, which will bring negative effects on India's plan for establishing a new submarine-fleet. Germany made this decision due to its opposition to India's nuclear tests last year.

*Russia will not recognize India's status as a nuclear power, though Russia-India relations made new progress in 1998, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov told a news conference in Moscow.
