Study Hard to Catch Up With Situational Development

This article by Our Commentator runs in part as follows: The new situation, new challenges and opportunities have set an extremely urgent task for the whole Party, that is the need to stress and strengthen study and study again. In recent years, the CPC Central Committee with Jiang Zemin at the core has attached great importance to promoting the common practice of study within the whole Party and repeatedly stressed the importance of study.

Strengthening study is determined by our more arduous, cross-century magnificent goal, by the new situation in which we open our door to participate in cut-throat international competition, by the ever-changing modern science and technology and the accelerating of updated knowledge and by the status quo in which our cadre ranks still fail to completely adapt themselves to the situational development.

At present, our reform and opening-up cause is faced with the stage of comprehensively tackling difficult problems, this stage requires that we redouble our efforts for study; after this stage is over, we will take a further shift from the highly centralized planned economy to a socialist market economy, establish a brand-new system and mechanism compatible with the socialist market economy, and on this basis, build up a modern, powerful socialist state, this task requires that we study and familiarize ourselves with things unfamiliar to us.

The new century is coming and the era calls on us to study hard. Let us further rouse ourselves to enthusiastically respond to the call of the Party Central Committee, launch an emulation drive within the whole Party, so as to study more and better, and greet the new century full of opportunities and challenges with excellent achievements and a brand-new outlook.
