Chongqing Pledges Improvement of Investment Ambience ����The Chongqing municipal government is set to make great efforts to improve investment ambience. Following steps are to be taken for this purpose: Reiterating the enforcement of the laws, regulations, rules and policies which have been proved to be effective in practice in the past; defining the operational limits of policies, laws and regulations formulated in the past; and new administrative standards are to be formulated for the major issues in the administrative operations of the municipal government. ����The municipal government called a meeting earlier to mobilize the whole municipality to strive for a change in the construction of systems, work style, administrative management and other aspects for the current year. ����Speaking at the meeting, Chongqing mayor Pu Haiqing called on officials to make great efforts to accomplish the tasks for 1999, and those failing to do so will be subject to investigation and penalty.
