Top Legislator Meets Canadian Guests
Li Peng, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, and his wife Zhu Lin met Andre Desmarais, president of the Power Corporation of Canada (PCC) and his party in Beijing January 21.

He described the Canada-China Business Council as a "bridge of economic and trade cooperation" between the two countries. Li said he hoped Desmarais, who serves as chairman of the council, could continue to advance bilateral economic and trade ties.
The top legislator also briefed the visitors on China's economic development last year and the goals set for this year.
Desmarais told Li about his company's investment in China and other Asian countries.
Desmarais and his party, invited by the China International Trust and Investment Corp., are here inspecting the PCC's China business.
