Primakov: Yeltsin's Hospitalization No Threat to Stability

  * Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov said Sunday that President Boris Yeltsin feels fine and that his latest confinement to hospital will pose no threat to the stability of Russia.

  "The president feels fine," Primakov told the Itar-Tass news agency after Yeltsin was taken to the Central Clinical Hospital with a bleeding stomach ulcer.

  "No extraordinary situation has arisen in the country from the president's illness," Primakov said.

  At a press conference Sunday evening, presidential spokesman Dmitry Yakushkin said that Yeltsin fully preserves his power.

  *Doctors at the Central Clinical Hospital confirmed that President Yeltsin is suffering from a stomach ulcer and should receive medical treatment. Doctors described Yeltsin's conditions as satisfactory.
