Japanese PM Vows to Revive Sluggish Economy
Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi on Saturday pledged that the newly launched coalition government between his Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Liberal Party (LP) will make every effort to revitalize Japan's ailing economy.
"I am determined to make utmost efforts so that the coalition government can take the initiative to reinvigorate Japan," Obuchi told a LDP party convention.
Obuchi reiterated his pledge to achieve positive economic growth in fiscal 1999, starting April 1, and to revive the Japanese economy by fiscal 2000.
