Provincial leaders in Zhejiang Province gathered on January 14 to deliberate issues on ensuring the livelihood of the laid-off staff and workers from the state enterprises and the timely payment of pensions to retirees from enterprises.

����Figures show that the province has set up 2192 reemployment service centers in state enterprises and 0.113 million laid-off staff and workers have entered the centers , making up 99% of the total such laid-off staff and workers. And 0.113 million laid-off staff and workers have got basic living expenses, making up 98.9% of the total. As from last June, all enterprises' retirees have obtained full pensions on time.

����The Labor Administration in Beijing set aside earlier 12 million yuan for allowances to low-paid residents and others who are in financial difficulty for them to spend the Spring Festival, the lunar new year in China.

����The state enterprises and administrative departments in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, have built up 1857 reemployment service centers and over 91000 laid-off staff and workers have been reemployed or got proper arrangement.

����The Donghe District in Baotou city, Inner Mongolia has paid good attention to the laid-off staff and workers. So far over 5700 such staff and workers have got jobs, making up over 70% of the total. Sheyang County in Jiangsu Province has organized laid-off woman workers into groups to escort pupils to and from schools. By doing so, the woman workers were reemployed and the parents of the pupils can be assured of their children's safety.
