Taiwan Authorities Urged to Hold Political Talks with Mainland
He Luli, the chairwoman of the Chinese Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee's Central Committee, said on January 15 that the Taiwan authorities should take steps to hold political negotiations with the mainland under the One China principle for the early reunification of the motherland.
The remarks came at a gathering here today to celebrate the Spring Festival, China's lunar new year, which was attended by several hundred Taiwan compatriots and officials from various government departments.
He Luli, also vice-chairwoman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, asked Taiwan authorities to face reality and take the desire for peace and stability of the Taiwan people into account to develop cross-straits relations and direct business contacts, mail, and air and shipping services as early as possible.
She also expressed the hope that the Taiwan residents will unite to struggle against any attempts to create "independence of Taiwan", "two Chinas" or "one China and one Taiwan".
