The Zambian government has strictly pursued its "one China policy" and the two nations have strengthened their consultation and coordination in international affairs.

*China cherishes its relationship with the African countries and is a reliable friend of the African nations forever; their traditional friendship will last no matter how the international situation should change, Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan told reporters while he finished his five-nation tour of Africa yesterday.

China is the biggest developing country while Africa is the biggest developing continent; China and the African countries have deep friendship and extensive common interest, Tang stressed. He added that strengthening unity and cooperation with the developing countries including the African nations have always been the most important component of China's independent and peaceful foreign policy.

Tang called on the international community, especially the developed countries, to adopt more practical measures to help the African people eliminate poverty as soon as possible.
