Photo: Vegetables on Sale, showing a farmer from Tongqiao Village of Li'an Township with his vegetables put on sale at a wholesale market since early dawn. To his worry, when it came to noon there were still not many customers who had turned up on the market. Formerly Pengzhou City in Sichuan Province used to have a large vegetable market with an annual amount of over 300 million kilograms of vegetables sold to other places in China. Last year a drop had been seen of these to merely a yearly amount of over 60,000 kilograms. Worse still, some vegetable species had made swill or feed that had to be sold at a price of less than RMB$2 cents per kilogram.
