Export Growth Hoped in 1999
ĦĦĦĦIn 1998, China had met unprecedented difficulties in export trade. According to latest statistics made by the Customs, China had a total of US$323.93 billion worth of import and export trade developed to show a drop of 0.4% less than the previous year. It was the first negative growth China had experienced in her import and export trade since 1983. Contrarily, an export volume amounting to US$183.76 billion, 0.5% increase, and a surplus of US$43.59 billion, a growth of 7.9%, had been achieved instead. Irrespective of unexpected difficulties going to be met and grave financial crisis that have erupted in the Southeastern Asian countries, an export growth is still expected by people in China.
