Chinese Vice-President to Visit Four African Countries

  Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao will pay official visits to Madagascar, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and South Africa from January 23 to February 4, Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi announced January 12 at his regular press conference.

  Hu is going at the invitations of the government of the Republic of Madagascar, Vice-President John Evans Attah Mills of the Republic of Ghana, the government of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire and Deputy President Thabo Mbeki of the Republic of South Africa.

  Sun said the visits are aimed at enhancing understanding, developing friendship, expanding cooperation and deepening the development of friendly relations and cooperation between China and the four countries in order to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship and cooperation between China and the countries of Africa.
