Southwestern Chinese Airport Back to Normal Operation

Kunming airport, in the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, resumed operation on the morning of January 12 after having been closed for a day because of a heavy snowfall.

At 11:14 am, a flight from Kunming to Xishuangbanna left the airport thanks to the runway-clearing work of airport staff and a warmer weather.

The snow started falling early yesterday morning and piled up by 8:00 o'clock so that the airport had to be closed. More than 50 flights were canceled and 5,000 passengers were delayed.

On January 12 120 airplanes took off and most of the stranded passengers left.
