Ministry of Education to Promote Reform This Year ����The Ministry of Education will introduce six reforms with respect to teaching, higher education administration, school running, inner school management, enrollment and employment, and education fund allocation in 1999, said Minister of Education Chen Zhili at the 1999 Education Work Conference which opened in Beijing on January 11. ����Chen noted that the emphases will be placed on work in the following two aspects this year: 1. Spreading nine-year compulsory education and eliminating basically illiteracy among the youth and adults; 2.
