Chinese NPC Chairman Meets With Bolivian Visitors
Li Peng, chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said January 11 that the world political multi-polarization would serve global peace and stability, while the globalization of the world economy has brought about both opportunities and challenges to the developing countries.
The developing countries must adapt themselves to this process to better protect their legitimate rights, he said.
Li Made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation led by Hugo Carvajal Donoso, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Bolivia,in Beijing yesterday afternoon.
He expressed the conviction that the China visit of the delegation would further promote the friendly relations between the parliaments and peoples of the two countries.
Bolivia is by no means strange to the Chinese, though the two countries are geographically afar from each other, Li said that the relations between China and Bolivia have witnessed steady growth since the two countries forged diplomatic ties. Chinese NPC and the Bolivian Parliament also enjoy a close relationship, he added.
Half of the Bolivian parliamentarians are members of the Bolivia-China Friendship Association, which shows that the Bolivian parliament attaches great importance to Bolivia-China ties, Li noted, stating that the NPC also values its friendship and cooperation with the Bolivian Parliament.
Carvajal said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Bolivian people admire the achievements made by their Chinese counterparts.
He told Li that the delegation is formed by members from all the major parties of Bolivia, which indicates that the different political parties in Bolivia treasure Bolivia-China ties. The China visit of the delegation would boost the exchange and collaboration between the parliaments of the two countries, He said.
Li hosted a banquet in honor of the Bolivian visitors following the meeting.
