Far East South Pacific Games for Disabled Opens in Bangkok ����Thailand opened the seventh Far East South Pacific Games (FESPIC) for the disabled in Bangkok on Sunday, January 10. ����The Games was opened by Thai Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn at the 20,000 capacity Thammasat stadium, a venue for last month's Asian Games. ����Some 2,430 athletes from 34 countries and regions will take part in the event. ����Medals will be awarded in 15 sports in the Games, which will run until January 16 and will be held at two other Asian Games venues, Thammasat University sports complex and Hua Mark stadium. ����A total of 196 Chinese contestants will compete in the 12 sports events staged from January 11 to 16. ���� ���� ���� ���� ���� SportsNews 1999-01-11 Page1
