Ugandan President Meets Chinese Foreign Minister

Uganda highly appraises China's independent and peaceful foreign policy and admires the great success of economic reform achieved by China while keeping social stability, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni told visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan yesterday in Kampala.

Museveni appreciated all the assistance that China has provided since the independence of Uganda and said that Uganda is willing to further strengthen its cooperation with China in all fields so as to promote a steady development of the Uganda-China relationship.

Tang Jiaxuan said that the standing point of China's foreign policy is always on the side of the developing countries including the African nations.

China supports the African countries to choose their own way of development and political systems in line with their own situation, Tang said, adding that China also supports these nations' efforts to defend their sovereignty and develop their national economy.

China is willing to make efforts along with Uganda to keep the long-term stable development of friendly, cooperative mutual-benefit relations between the two countries at the turning of the century.
