Railway Construction Last Year ĦĦĦĦAn investment of RMB$56.3 billion yuan had been made by China last year to have 900km of new railway lines, 596km of double tracks and 995km of electrified lines constructed as an important part of the major endeavor to ensure a speedy and sound development of the Chinese economy. With these there are also 952km of new lines that have had rail tracks laid and 1127km of rail lines built into double tracks.. Following strategic decisions by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council in directing national construction and economic development, a new investment amounting to as many as RMB$55 billion yuan will be made by the Chinese Railway Ministry this year in railway construction. According to plan, 32 new railway works (including 1319km of rail tracks to be laid, 1004km planned to be put into operation), 976km of double tracks (1252km planned to be put into operation) and 735km of electrified lines have to be constructed this year.
