Chinese Vice-Premier Visits Southern Province
Vice-Premier Qian Qichen, in a recent visit to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, cited the region's numerous scenic spots and historical sites, and asked it to expand its tourism industry and to handle overseas Chinese affairs better.
Guangxi needs to increase input in new tourist spots, improve service, and put in an effort to make the region a model in tourism.
Guangxi also needs to place agriculture high on its economic development agenda, he said, and to stabilize the Chinese Communist Party policy on rural work and intensify rural reforms. It also needs more overseas investment, technical personnel and technology from other areas and countries, he said.
Guangxi should increase economic, scientific and cultural contacts with Taiwan and open more channels of investment from Taiwan, he said.
