Wang Daohan to Visit Taiwan
Wang Daohan, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, said Saturday that he is prepared to visit Taiwan this year to promote exchanges across the straits. Although there is some divergence of views at present, Wang said he is convinced that peaceful consultations can help seek common grounds while preserving differences.
Wang made the remarks when he met with a Japanese parliamentarian delegation led by Yamazaki Taku, former chairman of the Political Affairs Investigation Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party, Saturday morning. He told the guests that relations between China's mainland and Taiwan are moving in a favorable direction, and a peaceful reunification and the "one country, two systems" policy are attainable through dialogues.
Territory of any country is inalienable, and the "one country, two systems" policy promises a maintenance of the present situation, social systems, and the way of life in Taiwan, Wang stressed.
