Land Put Under Strict Control

With the deepening of reform and further opening up and development of a socialist market economy the Chinese government saw to it that new Land Management Law in replacing the one of old publicized in 1986 be formally promulgated on January 1 this year. The law forms a monumental change to the land management system and a great change of the forms and ways for land to be used in China. Central to the new Land Management Law farmland has been put under strict control and state protection and no farmland will be allowed to be used to a nonproductive or to no purposes in China. This will greatly contribute to the development of the Chinese economy.
