Full Efforts for an Improved Bio-environment Urged ˇˇˇˇFine opportunities are offered for bio-environment construction in China: A long-term plan as a blueprint mapping out the country's bio-environment construction has already been worked out. In China today, with an annual average of 5 billion cubic meters of soil losses there is a total area of 3.67 million square km of land including an annual amount of about 1 million mu of farmland that has come to suffer from soil erosion. For sustainable development of agriculture and the whole Chinese economy 10 demonstration cities, 100 demonstration counties and 1,000 small river basins amounting to 50,000 square km of land on the Yangtse, Yellow and other five large rivers will be constructed in the coming 3-5 years in China.
