From Building Kitchen Ranges to Skyscrapers 　　At the end of the 1970s, a construction team called "Honglin Construction Station" was established in Honglin Township of Taixian County. The station's work was limited to building kitchen ranges, enclosing walls, and residential houses. In the early 1980s, when construction teams were urgently needed in Inner Mongolia, the Honglin Construction Station, in order to get a chance to work in Inner Mongolia, was turned into Taixian County No.6 Construction Engineering Company. Since 1987 the company has undertaken many key construction projects in Beijing and Shanghai, the fine quality and good looking of these works have earned the company a high reputation far and wide. 　　On the eve of the convocation of the Party's 15th National Congress, the No.6 Construction Engineering Company underwent the reform in line with the shareholding system and established the Jiangsu Fangyuan Construction Engineering Co. Ltd.At that time, Fangyuan had become the state's second-class construction enterprise with an annual output value of over 200 million yuan, profit nearly 10 million yuan, employing more than 4,000 people and enjoying a high reputation across the grassland and in Beijing and Shanghai. There are two decisive factors for Fangyuan's success: first, winning success on the strength of quality. Statistics show that over the 10-year period in Beijing and Shanghai, Fangyuan has undertaken to build over 100 projects, with the pass rate reaching 100 percent, and rate of excellence over 85 percent. The other decisive factor is that Fangyuan had worked in close coordination with many large domestic construction enterprises, in the course of which it was willingly playing a minor role, learned to make better use of others' technology, managerment expertise and construction equipment in order to improve the qualities of its own construction teams. 　　Honglin Township now has a population of 25,000, including 5,000-6,000 redundant laborers, of whom 2,500 are builders of the Fangyuan company, they have an annual income of 10,000 yuan each, their remittance back to their township amounts to around 25 million yuan. 　　"Going in for construction is the way to get rich". So the building industry has become a hit industry for transferring surplus rural labor force of the township and striving for a relatively comfortable life.
