The Supreme People's Court ruled in favor of internet giant, Tencent, in its three-year-long legal battle with Qihoo 360, a leading Chinese anti-virus software developer, on Monday.

Qihoo 360 was ordered by the court to pay five million yuan (802,568 U.S. dollars) in monetary compensation to Tencent. This ruling was originally reached by the Guangdong Provincial Higher People's Court on April 25, 2013. The decision was then appealed by Qihoo 360 and was sent to the Supreme People's Court.

Tencent first filed two lawsuits against Qihoo 360 in 2011, claiming that their anti-virus software interfered with Tencent's online messaging service, QQ, and deleted the application's legitimate advertisement plug-ins. Qihoo 360 then counter-sued in March of 2013, alleging that Tencent was abusing its market dominance to maintain a monopoly.
