The U.S. authorities suspended posting car recall notices on its website due to the federal government's shutdown, local media reported.

Due to a lapse of federal government funding, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is unable to post any new recalls after closure of business on Sept. 30, Chicago Tribune quoted a note on NHTSA's website said.

"Recall searches will remain available but are only current as of that time. Consumers can continue to file safety defect complaints via this website, but they will not be evaluated by NHTSA staff until funding and services are restored," the note said.

The NHTSA later noted on its website that during the government shutdown, some online content may not be updated on a regular basis, and the processing of online transactions may be delayed.

The "Updated" date at the bottom of each page shows the last time it was updated, it said.
