Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has warned to halt aviation services across the country if government fails to fulfill its demands. The body came with such warning after the government hiked the prices of aviation fuel.

Halting air services will badly hit the thousands of people who are preparing to go home early next month by domestic airlines to celebrate the Dashain Festival, the greatest festival in Nepal.

Organizing a press conference, AOAN said government should withdraw its decision of increasing the prices of aviation fuel for domestic carriers. The government on Tuesday increased the aviation fuel for domestic carriers, which have drawn criticism from different sectors.

"It has badly hit the normal people, so we have decided to protest such decision," AOAN President Capt. Rameshwar Thapa said in the press conference.

He said that government's monopoly in the aviation sector should be ended and private suppliers should get the opportunity to provide aviation fuel to control the periodic hike of aviation fuel. The body has given the government 15 days to fulfill its demands.

The AOAN also submitted a memorandum to the government, threatening to halt aviation services if the government fails to roll back its decision of increasing aviation fuel price.

The umbrella organization body also said that increasing the price of fuel is affecting millions of the people every year.
