"The flight is excellent, it's something that I would never be able to experience any other way. For the kids that are all here, it's a very special day. It's with Santa, and with the gifts and stuff, it just something that makes all the visits to the hospital that much easier to bare with."

With holiday arts and crafts, gingerbread-house building and plenty of gifts and Christmas baking and food for the children and their families as they waited in the airport for a flight on the eight-seater jet, Jason Schneider, who was there with his wife and two children, said the Telus gesture was greatly appreciated.

His three-year-old daughter Hayley was diagnosed with a heart condition when she was three weeks old. After being put on medication until she was six months, Schneider said the heart condition was improving but regular visits to the hospital were required to have the youngster checked.

"It's great to have the kids come out. Telus does a great job of supporting the event and all the workers and the helpers just make it a really special day for the kids. We really appreciate it," he said.

"The heart condition is in kind of a bit of honeymoon phase right now, but there is a chance that it could come back. So right now we just kind of monitor and kind of watch her."
