BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- For more on the SCO meeting, we’re joined on the line by Igor Yurgens, Director of the Institution for Contemporary Development. He is also one of Russia’s most influential experts, with close ties to President Dmitry Medvedev.

Q1: According to some media reports, the focus of the SCO over the next couple of years will be on regional economic cooperation, rather than fighting terrorism as in the past decade. What do you make of this change in emphasis?

Q2: The SCO is considering taking in more members, including Pakistan, which has already applied for full membership. Do you think this expansion might give rise to changes in the way the group operates and how its members interact? And how might this change the organization’s relations with western countries?
