Soldiers rescue local residents at Yangyi Village, the epicenter of an earthquake, in Gedar Township of Damxung County in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, in the early morning of Oct. 7, 2008. The China Earthquake Administration (CEA) has launched a level III emergency response plan after the strong quake jolted Damxung County near Lhasa at 4:30 pm (Beijing Time) on Oct. 6, 2008. The road leading to the Yangyi Village, which was once blocked by the quake, was repaired. The injured were sent to hospitals. The rescue materials including food, drinking water and tents have arrived at the quake-hit area. [Xinhua]
