Chinese foreign minister meets Indian foreign secretary

BEIJING, April 15-- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh on Monday.

Wang said China and India, as emerging economies and large developing countries, have a natural partnership, and have explored a unique path of friendship and cooperation on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

2014 marks the "Year of China-India Friendly Exchanges" as well as Indian general elections, Wang noted, stressing it is in line with the common interests of the two countries to maintain sound bilateral ties.

China is ready to work with India to fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push forward cooperation and exchanges in various areas, he said.

Wang called on the two sides to accelerate the building of the Silk Road economic belt, the 21st-century maritime Silk Road and the China-India-Myanmar-Bangladesh economic corridor as well as to enhance communication and coordination on international and regional affairs.

Singh said India attaches great importance to the India-China partnership. She stressed India is willing to work with China to promote high-level visits and cooperation in various fields.
