BEIJING, Feb. 24 -- China firmly opposes appointment of a U.S. special coordinator for Tibetan issues.
"We have never recognized and will not recognize in the future the so-called special coordinator for Tibetan issues appointed by the United States," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying at a daily press briefing on Monday.
"China resolutely opposes any foreign country using Tibet to interfere in China's internal affairs," Hua said.
Media reports on Friday said that Sarah Sewall, a U.S. official responsible for human rights, had been appointed as special coordinator for Tibetan issues.
