MONROVIA, Feb. 12 -- Zhang Yue, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to Liberia has presented his letter of credence to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in her office.
The Liberian leader received Ambassador Zhang at a ceremony in the President's temporary office inside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
Sirleaf asked Zhang to transfer her warming greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping. She said the Liberian government and its people will hold firmly to its One-China position. She also expressed gratitudes to the aid and the support China has provided in the nation's sectors of infrastructure, human resource and peacekeeping.
Sirleaf also spoke highly of China's contribution to the employment and economic development of the Liberian society, welcoming more and more Chinese enterprises to make investment in Liberia.
For his part, Zhang said that since the re-establishment of the bilateral relations in 2003, it's been growing fastly with cooperations in all fields keeping expanding and deepening. China is willing to make joint efforts with Liberia so as to lift the bilateral relations to a new level.
Zhang Yue arrived in Liberia on Jan. 18 to assume his new post.
