Respecting each other's core interests and major concerns is an important precondition for guaranteeing the smooth development of the China-U.S. relationship and also a key point for China and the United States to explore a new-type relationship between two large countries. Under the current condition, it is especially important to emphasize this point.

The United States is Japan's “closest partner” in the security pattern of Asia after the Second World War. The origin of the Diaoyu Islands issue was connected with the United States' disposal for the Cold War. Facing the greatly changing situation, the United States should properly play its role and further strengthen its sense of reality.

Japan, which is going even further and making mistakes one after another, performed the farce of “buying the islands” and is publicly inquiring the effectiveness of the “Cairo Declaration” and “Potsdam Declaration” as international laws, while trying to deny the victory of the global anti-fascism war. The United States should realize the nature of the issue.

In the Second World War, the United States was a major force in defeating Japan. This historical attribution by the United States is highly acclaimed and fully respected by the people of Asian countries including China.
