Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei on Wednesday evening expressed the country's shock at attacks on a U.S. consulate in Lybia and voiced strong condemnation of the violent deeds.

China again demanded that Japan repeal its wrongful decision to "purchase" the Diaoyu Islands during Japanese diplomat Shinsuke Sugiyama's visit to Beijing on Wednesday.

Luo Zhaohui, head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Asian Affairs Department, held consultations with Sugiyama on the current China-Japan relations on Tuesday and Wednesday.[Read More]

China reiterated its stance on the Diaoyu Islands in a meeting with a senior Japanese diplomat on Wednesday, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
