New Israeli Ambassador to China arrives in Beijing

The new Israeli Ambassador to China, former Minister for Home Front Defense Matan Vilnai, arrived in Beijing on Aug. 24 to meet senior Chinese government officials.

Currently China is the only country where Israel has dispatched minister-level official to take the post of ambassador.

Matan Vilnai served as Israeli Science and Technology Minister, Culture and Sport Minister, Deputy Minister of Defense before becoming the ambassador to China.

“On the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Isreali diplomatic relationship we are proud of the close bilateral ties,” Matan Vilnai said, “There is still a huge potential for the development of bilateral relations. I think I have a long way to go.”

Matan Vilnai plans to visit various parts of China and to discuss the future Sino-Israeli cooperation in multiple fields.
