MOSCOW, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- China and Russia should further development of their friendly relations to benefit the two peoples and the world, visiting Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo said here on Tuesday.

During his talks with representatives of leading Russian think-tank, institutes and media organizations, Dai said the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination was an important treasure, which was of great significance for both countries, peoples and the world at large.

Under the new international situation, China and Russia should strengthen their coordination and communication, deepen their mutual trust, elevate their tangible cooperation to a new level, and encourage people-to-people and cultural exchanges to further develop the China-Russia friendship, Dai said.

He also called on the two countries to strengthen their coordination on international affairs to effectively safeguard world peace and promote common development.

I hope the two countries' think-tank, institutes and media organizations would play a bigger role in advancing the China-Russia relations, Dai said.

Russian representatives said they would endeavor to further promote the China-Russia relations.

Dai also met some long-time advocates and supporters for China-Russia friendship on Tuesday.

Dai was here for the seventh round of strategic security consultations between the two countries at the invitation of Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
