Chinese children participate in summer camp activities in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A group of Chinese children visited Mongoliaon Thursday and took part in a series of summer camp activities as part of a program aimed at promoting friendship among teenagers of the two countries.

The group, which consists of 43 children from China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, put on performances for their Mongolian counterparts at the International Children's Center for Friendship in Ulan Bator.

Wang Xiaolong, Chinese ambassador to Mongolia, said after the performance that friendly exchanges between Chinese and Mongolian teenagers have been deepening continuously in recent years.

He expressed hope that the Chinese children's visit can boost the friendship among teenagers of the two countries.

D. Altai, a senior official of the Mongolian National Authority for Children, lauded the teenager exchange program, which was decided by outgoing Mongolian Prime Minister Sukhbaatar Batbold during his visit to China last year.

China and Mongolia organized a number of activities in accordance to the exchange program in recent years.

In 2011, some 100 Mongolian youths visited China at the invitation of Premier Wen Jiabao. Students from China's earthquake-hit regions in Sichuan and Qinghai provinces also participated in summer camp activities in Mongolia.
