BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met in Beijing on Wednesday with Singapore's National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

Liu, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee's Publicity Department, hailed the development of bilateral ties, noting Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-City in China have become successful models of bilateral cooperation.

Liu expressed the hope to enhance cooperation with Singapore in areas such as media and culture.

The CPC, Liu said, stands ready to advance exchanges and cooperation with Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) in various fields including governance, so as to set a solid foundation for developing the bilateral relationship.

Khaw, also chairman of the PAP, said Singapore highly values the development of bilateral relations, and will deepen exchanges with the CPC.

China and Singapore started their first major cooperation project, the Suzhou Industrial Park, in the early 1990s. Since then there have been many major cooperation projects such as the Tianjin Eco- City and the Guangzhou Knowledge City as well as parks in Chengdu, Xi'an and Henan.
