BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The Republic of Korea (ROK) will further cooperation and communication with China to boost bilateral development, the ROK's ambassador to China Lee Kyu-hyung said at symposium Thursday.

"China and the ROK have been good neighbors during the last 20 years, and will further cooperation to boost trade and the economy," said Lee at the symposium, which was held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two sides.

According to statistics provided by the ROK's embassy in Beijing, the number of students from the ROK studying in China reached 6.5 million in 2011, 50 times of that in 1992.

Also, the countries' total trade volume has grown from 6 billion U.S. dollars in 1992 to 240 billion U.S. dollars in 2011.

Lee noted that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd will set up factories in northwest China's Shaanxi province with an initial investment of 7 billion U.S. dollars.
