08:17, June 27, 2012

BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met Tuesday with Botswana's Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgweetsi Masisi, pledging to boost cooperation between the two nations on poverty reduction.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to poverty alleviation, Hui said, adding that China and Botswana are both facing a historic mission in eliminating poverty, improving livelihoods and pursuing sustainable development.

Hailing the current state of relations between the two countries, Hui said the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with Botswana to maintain high-level interactions and further boost exchanges and cooperation between the two nations regarding poverty alleviation.

Hui said their bilateral relations have made positive contributions to ties between China and Africa as a whole.

The Chinese side is ready to enhance mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation with Botswana to boost bilateral ties to a new level, Hui told the visiting official.

Masisi said Botswana hopes to learn from China's poverty alleviation practices and promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries in order to further advance bilateral ties.
