The State Council Information Office released the National Human Rights Action Plan (2012-2015) on June 11, indicating a new stage of planned, sustainable, and comprehensive development for China's human rights cause.

In the National Human Rights Action Plan (2009-2010) published in 2009, China translated the constitutional principle of protecting human rights into specific government policies, measures, and actions. Based on a review of the first action plan, the country formulated the second human rights action plan, in order to continue to promote the comprehensive development of its human rights cause in a planned manner.

The second action plan reflects the Chinese government’s determination to implement the principle of respecting and protecting human rights in all governmental agencies in the country.

It is stressed in the second action plan that the government will strengthen efforts to promote social justice and harmony, and to ensure that every member of society lives a happier and more dignified life.

The new action plan pays particular attention to solving the issues concerning the people’s vital rights and interests. Many issues of great concern to the public have been included in the action plan, waiting to be resolved.
