Chinese president appoints new ambassadors to 5 foreign nations

BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- President Hu Jintao has appointed five new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Wednesday.

Hu made the appointments in line with decisions made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, China's top legislature.

Zhao Jun was appointed ambassador to Norway, replacing Tang Guoqiang.

Guan Jian was appointed ambassador to Congo (ROC), replacing Li Shuli.

Sun Jiwen was appointed ambassador to Gabon, replacing Li Fushun.

Xu Hong was appointed ambassador to Barbados, replacing Wei Qiang.

Yang Wanming was appointed ambassador to Chile, replacing Lu Fan.
