Chinese foreign minister, EU foreign policy chief discuss China-Europe ties over phone

BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief Catherine Ashton exchanged views on China-Europe relations in a telephone conversation Friday.

Both sides agreed that the relationship between China and Europe has maintained good momentum of development. The officials expressed readiness to jointly promote China's ties with Europe and EU members and advance the comprehensive relations of strategic cooperation and partnership between China and Europe.

They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
